Dr. Ashley O’Rourke is a dual credentialed Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) who privately owns and operates Tidal Sports Rehab & Recovery. She specializes with athletic injuries- particularly those related to gymnastics and soccer. Dr. O'Rourke chose to start Tidal Sports in order to create a smoother, more straightforward and overall better experience for both patient and provider by cutting out the middle-man- insurance. This allows her to bridge the gap between rehab and fitness focusing on the patient goals and not the goals of the insurance company.
Dr. O'Rourke completed her undergraduate degree in 2012 from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill where she earned a BA in Exercise and Sport Science- Athletic Training and Peace, War and Defense. There, she worked with many of the Tar Heel’s sports teams including: the Women’s Tennis ACC Championship team, Track and Field, Football, Baseball and Men’s Soccer.

Following graduation, Dr. O’Rourke accepted the opportunity to work for the two professional soccer teams in Washington D.C.- DC United of Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). There, she served as an Athletic Trainer working with both the professional athletes and the youth development academy teams.

Upon her acceptance to PT school, Dr. O’Rourke then moved to Miami, FL where she pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree for the next 3 years at Florida International University- becoming fully employed as a licensed PT in November 2016 at a Sports & Orthopedic outpatient clinic in Columbia, MD. After a year and a half of working in the DC/Baltimore area with active individuals ranging from middle school and high school athletes, to NCAA athletes and weekend warriors, Dr. O’Rourke decided to return to Miami to continue her career within the sports and orthopedic specialty which included working with several professional athletes- NBA, NFL, MLB, Cirque du Soleil, Tennis etc.

Dr. O’Rourke grew up in a military family where she moved often and lived across various parts of the U.S. including: Connecticut, California, Virginia, North Carolina, Nebraska, Maryland, West Virginia, DC and Florida. While she enjoys many aspects of PT, her heart lies with working in sports/orthopedics. It was her own injuries as a gymnast for 18 years, those of her teammates and her involvement in several other sports that initially sparked her interest in the sports medicine field- eventually leading her down the path to become an athletic trainer/physical therapist.

Her hobbies include traveling, boating, skiing, sports, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
